Performance – Imposter Syndrome

Self talk.

What am I doing here?
Am I ready?
Am I good enough?

It’s a common occurrence.
We work hard, we do the practise, we get the results and get recognised.

Suddenly.

Then suddenly, we are in a position which we did not expect. Nor plan for. It just happened.
Yet, now we are in an important position.

And perhaps we start wondering….
“Is this deserved?”
“Is this really me?”
“What happens if?”

ABC Classic.

I’ve been listening to ABC Classic Radio on Sunday nights at 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
Duet presented by Tamara Anna Cislowska.

She’s the presenter and speaks with talented musicians. She asked them about their life story, about their influences, about their triggers for achievement.

There is one theme which recurs.
“I’m lucky to be here.”
“I’m grateful to my teachers.”
“I’m grateful for the opportunities.”
“I wonder how this is even possible.”

The journey.

This journey is one we all go through.
We are forever learning. We are forever growing and improving.
That brings the situation when we have improved and developed, but not realised how good we really are.

Leave the imposter behind.  We are good enough.
We wouldn’t be here otherwise.

Reflect, Recognise, Believe.
It is true.
